An instance of volunteering services of the police, says SP; it was created involving 200 police including women
The silver jubilee programme to mark the bifurcation of
Tuticorin from Tirunelveli organised by the Tuticorin police, got off to
a colourful start with a series of fireworks lighting up the sky on
Sunday evening. Dedicating the Pearl City Beach, which has been
established by the police on beach road here, to the Tuticorin populace,
Superintendent of Police J. Rajendran said the police personnel had
been rendering public service beyond the tasks assigned to them. Under
the initiative of Mr. Rajendran, the Pearl City beach, which was
previously termed as ‘police beach,’ was created involving 200 police
personnel including women police. Taking pride in it, he said except
Chennai no other coastal district across Tamil Nadu had witnessed such
volunteering services of the police to set up a beach.
Electricity
connections had been made at the beach in public interest. Drinking
water connections had been made at 48 police stations across the
district and the public had been utilising them well. Many of those
involved in criminal activities had undergone social reformation, he
said. Stressing upon reformation, he said a ‘silent revolution’ is on in
Tuticorin.
Meanwhile, he informed that spot fine
system has come in to effect in Tuticorin and the police would crackdown
on drunken drivers and helmetless drivers soon. With traffic
regulations in effect to ease out congestion, vehicular traffic flow is
being maintained in arterial roads of Tuticorin town.
A
high score of 95 and 99 in academic subjects alone would not be the
deciding factor for any student to achieve high ranks in civil services.
Anybody with self confidence in achieving the target would be able to
achieve the desired results, he said.
District
Revenue Officer S. Amirtha Jothi spoke on the role of parenting.
Nowadays, students at schools are becoming victims of pressure exerted
by teachers and parents. Every student has to be provided with a chance
to act on his or her own interest in choosing subjects to pursue higher
education. It was unfortunate that desires of children were scuttled
since they could not act on their own. Students of various educational
institutions, police personnel and their children put up various shows
on stage during the programme. Earlier, resounding reception was
accorded to Collector Ashish Kumar and District Revenue Officer S.
Amirtha Jothi.
