Volleyball tournament to be held

National-level volleyball tournament will be organised in Tuticorin as part of silver jubilee programme marking the bifurcation of Tuticorin from Tiruenlveli.

The tournament is scheduled to be held at SAV school ground adjacent to Tuticorin old bus station from October 8 to October 14. According to a statement, Tamilnad Mercantile Bank, Tuticorin in association with Tuticorin District Volleyball Association will host the event – ‘TMB Trophy.’ The best of talents from across India would compete in the game. For men, sports personnel from teams including Chennai, Indian Overseas Bank, Customs, Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu, Kochi Port, Kochi Refineries, teams from Karnataka, Andhra, South Central Railway, ONGC and other reputed teams would participate in the tourney. As for women’s events, teams including Southern Railway Chennai, East India Railway, Kerala Electricity Board, Central Railway from Maharastra and other teams would compete in the tournament.
