Arrangements are being made to host the Pets and Dog
show by the officials of the department of Animal Husbandry at the newly
created Pearl city beach opposite Caldwell School on beach road.
The programme is scheduled to be held on Sunday (August 26) as part of silver jubilee celebrations to attract animal lovers.
Registration
is free and the participants can register from 3 p.m. to 4.30 p.m. at
the beach, according to Joint Director of Animal Husbandry, Tuticorin,
S. Ganapathi.
All breeds of puppies would take part and a fashion show would be held subsequently for the pet animals.
As
part of the programme, obedience of the animals to the owners’ commands
would be gauged.Besides, individual breed show would also entertain the
spectators.
Pet
animals including dogs, love birds, parrots, ornamental poultry and
cats would be allowed to compete in the show and prizes would be given
to the winners.
Moreover, Central Industrial Security
Force personnel were likely to bring the pets for dog skill programme
and performance of the District dog squad is also expected.
A
panel of adjudicators from other districts including Tiruchi,
Tirunelveli and a Member from Veterinary Council of India would judge
the performance of animals and award prizes.
Event
Management Committee comprising Dr. Ganapathi, A. Joseph Raj, Veterinary
Assistant Surgeon, Tuticorin, M.A. Johnson Charles, Veterinary
Assistant Surgeon, Vallanad and D. Nandha Gopal, Clinician would monitor
the proceedings.
